Preschool education
Providing students with life experiences, meaningful learning, strengthening oral and written expression, educating with joy and freedom are the main objectives pursued by Preschool Education.
The use of a greater number of didactic and technological resources will facilitate the internalization of knowledge for children and will give them time and opportunity to participate and be protagonists of their own learning. For this, the use of digital boards and the iPad as devices that energize the educational process and bring it closer to the new reality of our students is essential.
This section continues with the broad study of the English language and most of the subjects are worked on in this language.
PRIMARY SCHOOL
It is at this stage when students must acquire the habits and tools necessary to successfully enter Secondary Education.
Individual study, order, neatness in work and love for things well done are achievements that all of them must achieve.
We set ourselves as basic objectives:
That our students understand and express themselves correctly in Spanish and English, orally and in writing, fundamentally taking care of correct spelling and calligraphy.
Achieve in them a deep respect for the conservation of nature and culture and at the same time introduce them to mathematical logic with the resolution of everyday problems and the use of technologies.
Provide a harmonious development of their body and instill in them the values that enable coexistence and harmony: companionship, generosity and peaceful coexistence, among others.
SECONDARY SCHOOL
The SEK International Institution, when planning the teaching activity, sets as one of the priority objectives that of quality, in terms of both intensification in the mastery of the instructional contents and their levels of application as well as in the habitual handling of the techniques of study, so that the student, by himself, always has the channels open for a greater deepening or for the application of his knowledge.
For this, our students are subjected to a methodical work plan in which the Academic Curriculum (subjects of the official academic programs) and the Complementary Curriculum (eg Programming – Robotics – Plastic Arts – Karate – Dance – Swimming are combined day by day – Music – Philosophy – Vocational Guidance – Psychology), within a demanding framework that guarantees us future success both in college entrance and in professional life for our students.
It is our goal to make available to our students the necessary stimuli to respond to their complete training and through complementary programs to attend to the uniqueness of each of the young people.
BILINGUAL STUDENTS
Being bilingual in our day is a must. That is why at the SEK-CR International School we offer, from the first years, more than 50% of teaching hours in English, thus guaranteeing a complete command of the language.
This training is completed with the possibility of staying at our US College, SEK-PREPARATORY International School (Florida), or attending Intercollegiate Activities on a world scale offered by the SEK International Institution.
Students in the 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th and 11th grades have the option of staying for a few months at SEK-Preparatory School Boca Raton, located at 10333 Drive South, Boca Raton, Florida 33428 United States.
The main objective of these courses is to internalize the English language with full immersion in the culture of this country, without forgetting the academic curriculum of our SEK-CR School.
Diploma Programme
The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (2017) aims to train caring, informed, and knowledgeable young people, who are capable of contributing to creating a better and more peaceful world, within the framework of mutual understanding and intercultural respect. Today, globalization requires us to train global minded people with a diversity of skills to provide solutions to problems both in their surroundings and globally. The international mindset has for many years been a very important characteristic within the SEK International Organization around the World.
According to Savage (2017), we must train students who have the ability to understand, respect and value different cultures, celebrate diversity, and know that different perspectives have a lot to contribute. The youth must be trained to respect and work with people of diverse opinions and to be compassionate and collaborative.
SEK International School offers the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme (DP) since 2018 in order for our students to receive a highly demanding education. The Diploma Programme Certificate is a globally recognized certification and approximately 2,000 of the world's leading universities have published their Diploma Program admission policies on the IB website (http://ibo.org).
Students may opt to take the DP in Grades 11 and 12. According to IB studies, the 12th year enables students to develop critical thinking, achieve greater effective organization of time, broaden and deepen learning, and become more independent and self-confident.
As part of the preparation required to face the DP, the school offers PRE-IB courses at the 8th, 9th and 10th grade levels. These years prior to facing the DP, serve to work on the attributes required by the student community. Students are expected to be inquiring, informed, educated, thinkers, good communicators, upright, open-minded, supportive, balanced, and reflective.
