Primary Education
Primary Education is a key stage in the holistic development of students, where academic, social, and emotional skills are consolidated that will accompany them throughout their lives. At the SEK Costa Rica International School, located in an excellent educational environment in San José, we support each child so they experience their learning with joy, autonomy, and responsibility, developing their oral and written expression and fostering an education based on reflection, creativity, and active participation.
We design learning environments where students are the protagonists of their education, making decisions and participating meaningfully in every activity. Our approach combines pedagogical innovation, active methodologies, and the use of technological tools such as digital whiteboards and iPads, connecting learning with reality and fostering 21st-century skills, without losing sight of the essential: traditional writing as the foundation of child development.
Bilingualism remains a fundamental pillar: some subjects are taught in English, integrating the language naturally and consolidating students’ multilingual competence. This preparation ensures that, by 6th grade, students are ready to take the Cambridge KET exam.
Furthermore, starting in first grade, students receive weekly French lessons, with the option to obtain DELF certification in sixth and ninth grade.
SEK Costa Rica International School, as an IB World School, reaffirms its commitment to international educational excellence, developing students with a global mindset capable of facing the challenges of the future.
