Preschool Education
The early years of school are key to children’s academic, emotional, and social development. At SEK Costa Rica International School, located in a privileged natural setting in Curridabat, we consider preschool education a fundamental stage for the holistic development of each student. Our weekly routine is based on an active, playful, and imaginative methodology, encouraging children to develop their curiosity, creativity, observation skills, and social and emotional abilities from the Playgroup level, starting at 18 months of age. We have a personalized tutoring system that allows for continuous monitoring of each child’s development, as well as constant communication with families, ensuring that every learning step is accompanied by close support and guidance.
Bilingual program from 18 months of age
From day one, our students are immersed in a bilingual educational environment, with daily exposure to English in all aspects of their routine. This immersion allows them to naturally acquire the sounds and structures of the language, while Spanish is used for learning to read and write in this language.
Pedagogical Curriculum
Our school is recognized as an IB World School, which commits us to integrating the attributes of the International Baccalaureate Programme into all pedagogical spaces to develop students with an international mindset, capable of developing competencies such as inquiry, critical thinking, communication, integrity, empathy, and reflection.
Our curriculum includes:
● Introduction to programming and robotics, fostering creativity and computational thinking with age-appropriate tools.
● Music education, with diverse classroom activities, developing each student’s individual abilities.
● Sports and psychomotor activities, promoting physical development and body awareness.
Each week, our students receive two swimming lessons during the school day, as well as gross motor stimulation through various activities.
● Emotional management and social skills, cultivating respect, coexistence, empathy, and care for the environment.
● Innovative learning spaces, designed to stimulate creativity, communication, and play as the driving force of learning.
